GTP tour: Walking the Hindustan-Tibet Road

Tour duration : 9 nights / 10 days

Most of this trek is along the old Hindustan - Tibet Road, the ancient trade route to Tibet. The old mule track even today makes a beautiful and easy walk. The whole route is lined by beautiful Forest Rest Houses, which were built in the last century. After visiting the 800 years old Bhimakadi Temple in Sarahan, we trek through Taranda, Nichar, and Karcham and then enter the lush green Sangla Valey at Chansu.

| Day 01 | Delhi-Shimla. A 7 - 8hrs. drive from Delhi along the National Highway to reach the picturesque hill-station of Shimla, the erstwhile capital of the British Raj era. O/N in hotel.

| Day 02 | Shimla-Sarahan. We drive through Narkanda and Rampur Bushair to reach Sarahan. O/N in hotel / guest house.

| Day 03 | Sarahan-Chaura. Early morning visit to the Bhimkali Temple and after breakfast the trek starts and ends at Chaura in the evening. O/N in guest house.

| Day 04 | Chaura-Taranda. After walking for about 8 kms we end up in a most beautiful rest house for the evening.

| Day 05 | Taranda-Nichar. Nichar was one of the most important settlements along the old Hindustan Tibet Road. Nichar's Shiva Temple is one of the main attractions. O/N in guest house.

| Day 06 | Nichar-Panvi. A very leisurely and short walk of about 9 kms brings us into a world with shades of a medieval culture. O/N stay in camp.

| Day 07 | Panvi-Karcham. A steep descent to the banks of Satluj. Trekkers are bussed to a luxury camp in Sangla for O/N stay.

| Day 08 | Sangla-Shong. A steady climb to the Shong village from where the majestic Kinner-Kailash ranges seem within easy reach. O/N in camp.

| Day 09 | Sangla-Chansu. The last days walk through the Sangla valley terminates at the camp, which is about 2 kms. from Chansu. O/N stay at the camp.

| Day 10 | Sangla-Shimla. Day of leisure at the camp with an option to explore the enchanting valley before the return journey.
